Darlene L. Burcham
Darlene Burcham is a seasoned Virginia manager having served in management positions in several jurisdictions during her 40+ year career. She last served as the town manager for 10 years in Clifton Forge after having been the City Manager of Roanoke for 10 years. Prior to that, Ms. Burcham served Norfolk, VA for 12 years, holding the positions of Deputy Manager, Assistant Manager and Director of Human Services. She spent eight years as Assistant County and Acting County Administrator in James City County and eight years as Social Service Director in Hampton, Va.
Ms. Burcham has been involved in numerous committees, programs and initiatives throughout Virginia and has received awards and recognition from the NAACP, SCLC, and ICMA. Most recently she has served on the board of the Virginia Risk Sharing Association (VRSA) for 7 years and the Virginia Municipal League Committee for 3 years.
Ms. Burcham holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of William and Mary, a master’s degree in social work administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and a certificate from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Ms. Burcham also attend the Federal Executive Institute and the Senior Executive Institute.
