We’re excited to share that the City of Petersburg was recognized this week with the 2025 Jamestown Award from APA Virginia! This award honors the Locality of the Year and celebrates places that go above and beyond in planning — not just in one plan, but across multiple efforts that create lasting, community-wide impact.
We’ve had the privilege of working alongside Petersburg’s leadership and staff over the past few years on the PetersburgNEXT Comprehensive Plan and the overhaul of their Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances. This work emphasizes clear policy direction, community engagement, strategic investment, and implementation tools that support long-term growth and revitalization of the Petersburg community.
What really stands out in Petersburg’s work is how collaborative and community-driven it’s been. From pop-up events and youth outreach to downtown reinvestment and environmental education, the City is showing what’s possible when planning is inclusive and action-oriented.
Congrats to the team at Petersburg and all the partners involved! We’re proud to support this work and can’t wait to see what’s next.
