Executive Manager
Dr. Scott Baker brings almost 30 years of experience as an educator in K-12 public schools, having most recently served as superintendent for Spotsylvania County Public Schools since 2012. As an educational leader and practitioner, he has worked at every level of public education, beginning in special education as an instructional assistant. A native Virginian, Scott has served in the school divisions of Arlington, King William, Hanover, and Spotsylvania in the above-mentioned roles as well as teacher, administrative intern, assistant principal, principal, director of curriculum and instruction, and assistant superintendent of instruction.
Scott received his Ed. D. in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia and his Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in English, with a Minor in Theater Arts, from Radford University. Scott has served on numerous regional and state-wide education association boards and councils. He remains active on many of these including the Virginia Association of School Superintendents (VASS), UVA K-12 Education Advisory Council, William and Mary School of Education Advisory Committee for Leadership Programs, and Rappahannock United Way Educational Focus Committee.
Scott has been the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions throughout his career, including King William County Teacher of the Year (1997), Hanover County R.E.B. Principal of the Year (2007), and VDOE Region III Superintendent of the Year (2019).
