Executive Manager
F. Craig Meadows joined Montgomery County as County Administrator in August 2009. Meadows has 34 years of local government experience; prior to joining Montgomery County, he served as City Manager in Monroe, NC from 2005 to 2009, and as City Manager in Bedford, VA from 1998 to 2005. Meadows’ career in local government also includes service as Director of Finance & Administration (1989-1991) and Interim City Manager (1991) for the City of Mount Airy, NC; Director of Finance & Administration (1991-1993) and Assistant City Manager (1993-1998) for the City of Monroe, NC; and Interim Town Manager for the Town of Red Springs, NC from February through July 2009.
Meadows earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Gardner-Webb University. He received a Graduate Certificate in Municipal Administration from the School of Government at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (2007), and earned a Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management from Virginia Tech (2012). He is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Senior Executive Institute for senior local government professionals. Meadows is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant through the American Institute of CPAs, and has also been recognized as a Credentialed Manager by the International City/County Management Association.
Meadows is active with a number of local, regional, and state organizations. Meadows is a past president of the Virginia Local Government Management Association, and is a member of the Finance Steering Committee and the Budget Committee for the Virginia Association of Counties. He is also a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Montgomery County, and has been recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
