Betty J. Burrell

Betty served in various local government leadership positions throughout Virginia and Florida, including Director of Finance, Director of Procurement Services, Chief Financial Officer, Deputy Director of Finance, Tax Collector, and elected Treasurer. 

Among her various accomplishments are leading three Finance Departments in achieving credit rating upgrades from national credit rating agencies, one of which was accomplished during the Great Recession; dramatically improving tax collections thus generating $1.3M in unbudgeted revenue within her first year of employment with a locality; and providing oversight of a real estate tax assessment system procurement and successful implementation. 

Betty holds a MSA degree with a concentration in public administration, a BBA degree, and has completed various executive leadership training programs, including the Virginia Executive Institute (2017), Senior Executive Institute (2010), and Advanced Government Finance Institute (2011).
