Daniel E. Taber

After serving in the United States Army from 1969 - 1971, Dan began a thirty-seven year career with the Prince William County Police Department, a nationally accredited agency, retiring in 2008 as Assistant Chief of Police after serving 12 years in that position.  He was subsequently appointed Chief of Police in the Town of Dumfries, Virginia and then served as Dumfries Town Manager for almost five years, becoming the longest continually serving person to hold that position, retiring in July 2016. 

Dan has a B.S. Degree in Police Administration from American University and a Master of Public Administration degree from George Mason University.  In addition, he is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Senior Management Institute for Police (PERF), and the Professional Executive Leadership School (University of Richmond). He has taught Criminal Justice and Management courses at Northern Virginia Community College, the University of Richmond, and ECPI University, and has provided ethics training to senior law enforcement managers across the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He is a member of several professional organizations including a life member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the FBI National Academy Associates where he held the position of Virginia State Chapter President, the International Association of Ethics Trainers, and the International City/County Management Association.
