Doug Fawcett retired in mid-2021 after over forty years in local government service. He spent the last twenty-four of those years with the City of Fredericksburg, VA, first as Director of Public Works (almost twenty years), then as Assistant City Manager (over four years) with responsibility for public works, regional transit and parks and recreation operations, as well as management of all City capital projects.
Doug previously served in the City of Morgantown, WV (as City Manager), in the Town of Blacksburg, VA (as Assistant Town Manager) and in Caroline County, VA (as County Administrator).
He is a graduate of West Virginia University and of the Senior Executive Institute at the University of Virginia. Doug enjoys golf and reading (primarily biographies and history) and has been a high school football official in the Fredericksburg area for thirty-three years.
