Sarah Brands
Literacy Leadership Facilitator
Sarah Brands has over 15 years of experience in pre-K-12 education with a particular focus on literacy. In public schools, she has served as a Special Education Resource Teacher, Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, and Learning Assistance Program (LAP) Coordinator which focuses on supporting students who are not yet meeting grade-level standards. She also has experience in the private sector as a Learning Resource Teacher, Reading Therapist, Account Executive, Implementation Manager, Professional Learning Facilitator, and Education Consultant. This rich set of experiences has exposed her to many different perspectives and paradigms, ever increasing her empathy and understanding of the complexities and rewards inherent to delivering high-quality literacy instruction.Â
Sarah received her Master of Arts in Special Education from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing with a Minor in Finance from Oklahoma State University. She has completed training in science-based multisensory reading methods developed in both linguistics and Orton Gillingham styles.Â
Sarah lives in Falls Church, VA where you will find her baking, narrating audiobooks, drawing, painting, or enjoying time with her family.
