Stephen King

Stephen retired in January of 2025 after serving Rockingham County for 25 years as Director of Public Works, Deputy County Administrator, and County Administrator.  He served the City of Buena Vista for the seven years prior as City Engineer and Assistant City Manager and worked in the private sector for five years before beginning local government work.

Stephen is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and completed the Senior Executive Institute at the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service at the University of Virginia. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
